We are down to the last 5 chapters in Humphrey! It is so exciting! I love how Humphrey has been helping all of the families that he has been visiting! In Chapter 11 the Thomas's find themselves without television. At first they wine and complain, but they find other things to do. Do you think people watch too much TV? In this chapter we are introducedto the character Garth. We learn that he sometimes enjoys making rude noises but is honest when the teacher asks about it. Humphrey tells us that he has always liked Garth. However, Garth is mean to Humphrey and threatens to get him into trouble. Garth also is the only student to not raise his hand to take Humphrey home. What plans do you think the Author has for Garth? What thoughts, ideas and predictions do you have about this new character?

We have read about students who all have nicknames. (Pay-Attention-Art, Stop-Giggling-Gail, Repeat-that-Please-Richie). Why does Humphrey think that these are the children's names? What would Humphrey call you?
I love the names that Humphrey calls the students in Room 26. I think that if I was in Room 26 Humphrey would call me "Stop-Reading-Larinda". I was always reading when I was in elementary school and the teacher would often have to tell me to put my book away. Sometimes she would even take it away from me. Imagine, that! A teacher taking away a book!
I hope you are having a great time with Humphrey!
FYI: Did you know that Humphrey follows Ms Knibb around in his ball when she is sweeping the halls at night?
